Setting Summary
The Kingdom of Lyscairn is a realm of tradition, ritual, and carefully maintained civility. Power is exercised through precedent, etiquette, and the quiet violence of reputation. For generations, this balance has held.
Now, it fractures.
Sovereign Altheon III of House Aurevant lies gravely ill. His decline is no longer rumor but fact. Worse: the Sovereign has refused to name an heir, despite the expectations of Lyscairn law and custom.
In the absence of a clear successor, the Sovereign’s Council has convened an extraordinary measure: the Succession Concord. By the end of the year, the Concord must recognize a new ruler from among the claimants. Until then, every House is free to press its case, shape public belief, and manufacture legitimacy by any means short of open war.
When the Sovereign dies, whatever claims stand will harden into truth. Everything else will burn.
