She reappeared two days after the incident inside a downtown server room with no memory of the interval. What she was doing — or becoming — in that gap is unknown.

Background

Working two jobs and drowning in debt, Ava was skimming small amounts from unsecured ATMs using stolen firmware — nothing flashy, just enough to survive. She hit the wrong machine in Riverside Ward. The ATM had been retrofitted by a Glass District contractor testing next-generation biometric encryption and adaptive voltage security.

The surge crossed three city blocks. Traffic lights died. Phones bricked. Power lines arced blue. Ava was gone.

She started as a low-level opportunist. Her ambitions have grown since. Whether that trajectory ends somewhere interesting or somewhere destructive is still being decided.

Character Profile

[To be developed as she becomes more active.]

Ava wasn’t a villain when she started. She was desperate, and then she was powerful, and those two things are not as different as people like to pretend. What she does with the gap between who she was and what she can do is the question the story hasn’t fully answered yet.

Open Questions

  • What happened during the two days she was missing — where was she, and what does she know (or not know) about it?
  • What are her current ambitions, specifically — what does she want?
  • Who, if anyone, is she working with or for?
  • Has A.E.G.I.S. made contact, and if so, what came of it?
  • What is her relationship to the Glass District contractor who built the ATM she hit?
