Faction Detail Notes
Twilight Society
Prince of the collapsed Empire led remaining followers through The Haze to Darkreach. Now a commune sustaining itself only on what nature provides. Considers technology corruption and sin. Will use violence to βsaveβ people from it.
Commission of Smoke and Steel
Primarily Chimerans. Travel on Groundbreaking β a hulking keep on tank treads. A sleeping old dragon at its center protects the commission.
The Forsaken Blades
Originally the Emperorβs Shadow. Fractured when the Emperor went paranoid and executed loyal subjects. Internal civil war killed most; survivors used their spycraft to form a criminal syndicate.
The Wordeaters
Cursed by their abandoned god in its final moments: any word they speak is erased from all thinking minds. Accidentally spoke their godβs name β it was lost. Now on a near-impossible mission to find it. Trade exotic fabrics, spices, herbs, and animals via caravan to sustain themselves.
The Deathless
Blessed by Ljos with everlasting undeath. Maximum 9 members. Lesser members called Faceless wear obsidian masks infused with Ljosβ magic. The Faceless are agents in the world β seeing them means someone has escaped judgment.
The Magistari Rubrum
As old as Darkreach. Sanctum exists between the real world and the Echo, giving them extreme time to master Shaping. Found and recruited as teenagers, taken from their families. Not all survive training. Those who do become advisors to powerful figures, subtly steering the world.
