Avar β Overview
activeAvar
βWhat is the price of freedom?β A maritime political fantasy. Age of sail, early firearms. Three factions fighting over who controls the sea β and whether the sea can be controlled at all.
Kaleb is the creator of this world.
Setting Summary
The world of Avar is defined by water. Two great landmasses sit on either side of a contested central sea, and everything of consequence β trade, war, survival, identity β moves across it.
The Salt Crown rules Valecar from its northern castle and calls itself the legitimate authority of the known world. It is expanding. It has always been expanding.
The Free Brotherhood of Drask holds the eastern landmasses and the open water between, running on piracy, privateer charters, and the belief that no crown owns the sea.
The Chainwake Compact does not fight β it profits. It controls the Chainwake Passage through the Shardbelt, the only reliable route between Valecar and Drask.
The Salt Crown is winning. Not quickly β but inevitably.
